How many of us would like to incorporate our fun but expensive hobby of flying into our current professions? Jack Bartels always had the dream of combining his love for aviation with his everyday job as an insurance adjuster and made his dream a reality!
In 1952, Jack started his own insurance agency, H. Jack Bartels & Associates in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He chose Mount Vernon for its central location in the state and region he targeted. Jack founded his aviation insurance agency with two primary goals, to provide pilots and aircraft owners the most complete coverage for their dollar and to hold his company to very high moral standards. Both of these goals still remain primary today.
In 1968, Noel Parrish joined Jack. Noel was an aviation insurance underwriter with Associated Aviation Underwriters (now Global Aerospace) in their Detroit office. In 1972, Peter O'Neill arrived on the scene, and Jack Bartels decided to retire upon his satisfaction that the agency and its value system were in capable hands with Noel Parrish and Peter O'Neill.
Mr. Parrish & Mr. O'Neill focused on building strong relationships with their customers and underwriters through "door-to-door" (“hangar-to-hangar”) personalized service. Both Noel and Pete are accomplished pilots and used their aircraft to visit clients throughout their primary territory in Ohio and the surrounding states. Even as territorial capabilities have expanded nationwide today, the firm’s A36 Bonanza ensures corporate mobility.
As Noel Parrish and Peter O'Neill continued the same high quality service and values of their former partner, the firm’s name was changed to Parrish-O'Neill & Associates, Inc. in 1984. Continued success necessitated expansion. David Rigg joined the agency in 1988, following 5 years of service as an aviation insurance underwriter with USAIG. In 1991, Noel Parrish decided to enjoy himself in retirement and Mr. O'Neill and Mr. Rigg purchased Mr. Parrish’s interest in the agency. The new partners continued to provide its clients with the superior personalized service for which the firm had become known. The most recent transition occurred in 1998 with the addition of Scott Kennedy. Realizing the agency was in solid hands, Peter O’Neill decided to enjoy retirement. Mr. Parrish and Mr. O’Neill continue to reside in the area witnessing the firm’s continued success through emphasis on the values that were so important to them in the foundation of the organization that carries their names. |
